The Municipality of Campinas has launched a bidding notice to select a private partner for the operation of public lighting services in the city, located in São Paulo, Brazil.
The public-private partnership project includes modernization, expansion, operation and maintenance of the lighting park, consisting of around 122 thousand light points. The contract will be awarded for a period of 13 years, during which sodium-vapor and mercury lamps will be replaced with LED ones, in addition to the expansion of the light points. The proposed lamps are more powerful, brighter and consume 60% less energy.
The initiative is based on the terms agreed by the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR) in partnership with the Special Secretariat of the Partnership and Investment Program (SPPI), Caixa Econômica Federal and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank.
Investment and operation and maintenance amounts are estimated at BRL460 million (USD88.92 million). It is believed that the modernization of the lighting park could also generate savings of up to 70% in the Municipal Administration's electricity bills, reducing from BRL36 million (USD6.8 million), current value, to BRL12 million (USD2.28 million) a year.
The deadline to submit the responses is September 14, 2021. More information about this business opportunity can be found here.
