The Belo Horizonte Science Park (BH-TEC), in Brazil, has received no bids to develop a new building associated to the park through a PPP model.
BH-TEC, which is located next to the campus of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), was created in 2005.
In March 2013 we reported that the tender process for the project was launched, but no companies submitted proposals to develop the building complex. Later, in October 2015, the project was reviewed and the tender process was re-launched.
The concession contract was for a period of 30 years. The contract included the implementation, maintenance and operation of the new BH-TEC building complex, which would have a total area of approximately 207,000 m².
The total project investment was estimated at R$610 million (US$151 million).
The project was organized by the Banco de Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais (BDMG) with the support of external consultants.
Belo Horizonte, the capital of the state of Minas Gerais, is the sixth largest city in Brazil.
