Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council (UK) has issued a contract notice for the development of a regeneration scheme.
The Courthouse Car Park is a key site offering an opportunity for development within the Town Centre. In particular, the 4 hectare site provides a major opportunity for the delivery of town centre living and high quality public realm adjacent to the Barnsley Exchange station.
The Council is seeking to appoint a developer to further its vision for sustainable town centre housing/commercial provision. The developer will work with the Council to fund and ultimately deliver the development. The Council will support the principle of potential bidders looking for external funding.
It is envisaged that the developer will work with the Council to achieve:
The minimum value of the development opportunity is £25 million (US$33 million).
