Tri-lateral contracting authority RB Rail AS based in Latvia has announced an open competition to provide expert services for the Rail Baltica Global Project.
Rail Baltica is a greenfield rail transport infrastructure project with a goal to integrate the Baltic States in the European rail network. This project includes the development of an 870 km long railway line. The project includes five European Union countries – Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and indirectly also Finland. It will connect Helsinki, Tallinn, Pärnu, Riga, Panevežys, Kaunas, Vilnius, Warsaw. The Baltic part of the Rail Baltica project is referred to as the Rail Baltica Global Project.
The subject-matter of the open competition is to establish a list of expert services providers in 19 different Lots with a wide range of expertise fields for whole Rail Baltica Global project needs.
The contracting authority is looking for the consultants that will provide independent professional expert opinion/advice (including the preparation of supporting documentation, studies, feasibility solution studies, economic analysis, tax advisory, legal advisory, etc. studies and services) in planning, implementing and monitoring the Rail Baltica Global Project at all stages of its implementation.
Rail Baltica is the largest Baltic-region infrastructure project in the last 100 years. The construction period is expected to last 10 years. The rail line will be used for both passenger and freight traffic. The project will be environmentally friendly – it will be powered by electricity and will produce less noise and vibration. Maximum train speed will be 249 km/h (passengers), 120 km/h (freight)
