The Rijksgebouwendienst, the Netherlands' government buildings agency, last week announced that it will select the Pi2 consortium, formed by Ballast Nedam and Imtech, as preferred bidder for the Netherland's Zaanstad prison PPP project.
Zaanstad is a municipality in the Netherlands, in the province of North Holland.
Dutch prisonThe consortium will be responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, financing and the facilities management of the new penitentiary center.
The contract has a 25 years' term starting from mobilization and a total nominal project value of around € 300 million.
Ballast Nedam is the sole shareholder of Pi2. Ballast Nedam (65%) and Royal Imtech (35%) participate together in the Design, Build, Maintain and Operate phase. The funding - part of which institutional - will be provided by ING and NIBC. The final award of the project is planned for Monday 22 July 2013.
The consortium's advisers are Allen & Overy, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Meijers.
The Zaanstad Prison project involves the DBFOM of a 50,000 sqm correctional facility that will comprise 624 cells.The private partner will supply services such as consumer services, cleaning and waste management but it will not provide with security and ICT components.Source: PPS Netwerk & Ballast Nedam
