Atkins appoints managing director for transportation and infrastructure in Middle East & Africa

Atkins, a design, engineering and project management consultancy, has appointed Phil Malem as managing director for its transportation and infrastructure business, Middle East & Africa

Phil will head up a new team of 600 employees who will focus on providing integrated solutions for Atkins’ transportation and infrastructure clients in the region.  

Phil has been with Atkins for seven years and was previously managing director of Atkins’ power and renewables business.

Simon Moon, Atkins’ chief executive officer, Middle East & Africa said:

“Phil has the drive to lead this team and help develop our business in the transportation and infrastructure sector in the Middle East and Africa.Having previously lead one of our energy businesses, Phil brings with him a wealth of broad industry experience, strong capabilities in strategic client engagement and successful business leadership.”   

Phil said:

“This is an exciting time to be moving into this part of the business. We have an established rail and metros business, excellent capability within highways, water and power and a vast amount of experience in the growing aviation sector. We are developing new ideas for front end technological innovation within both transportation and infrastructure which will help provide our key clients with solutions for their most challenging projects."
