Assured Guaranty appoints infra expert as Independent Director

Assured Guaranty Ltd., a firm that provides credit enhancement products to the U.S. and international public finance, infrastructure and structured finance markets, announced last week that Ms. Yukiko Omura has been elected as an independent director to its Board of Directors. Ms. Omura will also serve on the Board's Finance Committee and Risk Oversight Committee.

Assured Guaranty Chairman, Robin Monro-Davies, said:

"We are very pleased to have Yukiko Omura join our Board. With more than 30 years of experience in the global infrastructure and finance markets, she will add an international perspective to our Board's decision-making and be valuable in evaluating Assured Guaranty's new business opportunities."

Ms. Omura began her career as a project economist with the Inter-American Development Bank, working in the infrastructure sector. She has worked at several major investment banks in Tokyo, New York and London. While at JP Morgan, she performed financial analysis and market research on the Japanese market, marketed and structured derivatives in Japan, launched the bank's emerging markets business in Tokyo and then moved to London to lead the bank's Emerging Markets Sales, Trade and Research (EMSTAR) Marketing for Northern Europe.

She later served as Senior Vice President and Head of Emerging Markets, Asia, and then as Senior Vice President and Head of Credit Business, Asia, at Lehman Brothers, before becoming Managing Director and Head of the Global Fixed Income and Derivatives Department for UBS Japan. Following a merger with SBC, Ms. Omura became the new head of the merged bank's Global Fixed Income and Derivatives Department, after which she joined Dresdner Bank as Managing Director and Head of Global Markets and Debt Office, Japan.

Ms. Omura is a non-executive member of the Board of Directors of GuarantCo Ltd. (Private Infrastructure Development Group), and an Advisory Board Member of Amatheon Agri Holding N.V., CG/LA Infrastructure LLC and Columbus Frontiers. She served as Vice President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development and, prior to that, as Executive Vice President of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency of the World Bank Group.
