Aragon plans hospital concession

The government of Aragon has announced plans to develop a new hospital in Alcañiz, Spain, through a concession contract.

The concession contract will have a period of 23 years. The total contract value during the concession period is estimated at €561 million (US$736.6 million).

Construction works are scheduled to start by 2015 and the project is expected to be operational by 2018.

The new 193-bed hospital will have an area of 73.818 m². The total project investment is estimated at €110.5 million (US$145 million) of which €96.3 million will be used to develop the new building facility.

The government of Aragon launched in June a public consultation for the proposed concession project. Interested parties can submit their questions about the project until 27 September 2014.

The design was developed by Spanish architecture firm EACSN Estudio de arquitectura in 2009. The project includes the development of the general access road to the hospital.

Alcañiz is a town and municipality in the province of Teruel, in the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. It has a population of about 17,000 inhabitants.
