Brazil's waterways regulator Antaq has announced it will launch a tender for a 25-year port terminal concession in the state of Rio de Janeiro on April 20.
The 25-year public-private partnership will involve the construction and operation of a 13,453m2 bulk grain terminal, mostly for wheat, in the Rio de Janeiro port region.
Besides a required investment of approximately BRL93.1 million (US$29 million), the eventual concession holder will have a fixed monthly lease payment of BRL428,396. The contract value over the 25-year period should total some BRL515 million (US$162 million). The concession, however, will have the option to extend for another 25 years.

In September 2016, the Government of Brazil announced the release of the Investment Partnerships Program (PPI), called Project Grow, which involves 34 infrastructure projects to be carried out under PPP scheme. This initiative is included in the PPI program.
