AlloyMTD and A Brown to submit unsolicited proposal for East-West rail in Manila

MTD Philippines, a subsidiary of infrastructure conglomerate AlloyMTD of Malaysia and A Brown Company (BRN) of the Philippines have announced that a consortium formed by both companies is to submit an unsolicited proposal for East-West rail PPP Project in Manila.

The project proposal was prepared by East-West Rail Transit Corporation (EWRTC), the consortium formed by A Brown and Private Equity Investment and Development (PEID) Corporation with Systra Philippines, subsidiary of the Systra Group of France, providing the technical assistance.

It will be proposed to Philippine National Railways to alleviate traffic congestion and encourage more productive activities in Metro Manila.

The project will involve the construction, operation and maintenance of the East-West Rail, a mostly elevated 9.4-kilometer railway line from Diliman, Quezon City to Lerma, Manila. The EWR will have 11 stations and provide interconnecting facilities with neighboring rail systems.

Dr. Walter W. Brown, Chairman Emeritus of A Brown, expressed his thanks to the Malaysian and Philippine governments:

“We are grateful for the opportunity to be of service to the Filipino working class and commend the current administration for responding quickly to a need that has been postponed for too long,” he said. “We commit to complete the project before the end of the President’s term.”
