Agreement signed for US$1.7 billion Rapid Transit project in Indonesia

Japan, Britain and South Korea have signed agreements to develop the phase IV of PT Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) project in Jakarta, Indonesia. 

The countries have signed three agreements. The first is a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the governments of Indonesia and Japan for the continuation of the construction of the Jakarta MRT's East-West corridor, which covers the Kalideres-Ujung Menteng line. The second agreement is a Letter of Intent (LoI) between the governments of the UK and Indonesia for the development of the Jakarta MRT. The third is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the governments of Indonesia and South Korea for the construction of Jakarta MRT's Phase 4 corridor, the Fatmawati-Kampung Rambutan line. 

The US$1.7 billion Jakarta MRT Phase 4 will have a standard track gauge of 1435 mm and the line will be 12 km long and consists of 10 stations. Construction is planned to start in 2023.
