AENA, the Spanish State-owned Aviation Authority, has announced that it signed on August 1st, 2013, an agreement with Abertis for the purchase of a 33% stake in Aerocali, the concessionaire of Cali Airport (Colombia), for €4 million.
AENA will increase its stake in the company to 66.6% with the stake acquisition.
Cali Airport is the third largest airport in Colombia with around four million passengers. This acquisition is part of the strategy Aena to increase its international presence with controlling shareholdings in strategic airports.
According to AENA, "following the acquisition, Aena takes control of airport management and consolidation of €8 million (US$10.57 million) of Ebitda annually."
The move comes rapidly after the purchase of London Luton Airport (with AXA Private Equity).
