Aecon Board to appoint Teri McKibbon as CEO

Aecon Group Inc., a Canadian leader in construction and infrastructure development, announced on Tuesday that its Board of Directors will appoint Teri McKibbon, currently President and Chief Operating Officer, as the company's President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 11, 2014, at its Annual General Meeting.  John M. Beck will become Executive Chairman and will continue to serve the company on a full time basis.

Brian V. Tobin, Vice-Chair and Lead Director, said:

"The Board has been working toward our succession plan and is committed to ensuring a smooth transition. We would like to extend our deep appreciation to John Beck and his leadership in bringing Aecon to its position today as Canada's premier construction and infrastructure development company.  Teri McKibbon has proven himself as a strategic, disciplined and focused executive as well as being a collaborative leader.

John M. Beck, Chairman and CEO, added:

"I have every confidence that Teri will lead Aecon with distinction and a relentless focus on execution.  He has been at the forefront of our paramount objective of improving margins and consistent financial performance, and of Aecon becoming the Canadian-based partner-of-choice for large-scale construction projects."

In addition to his role as Chief Operating Officer since March of 2011, Mr. McKibbon, 50, took on the role of President in June 2013.  He has been a member of the Executive Committee of Aecon since 2006. He joined Aecon in 1996, and previously led Aecon's Infrastructure business.

With more than 30 years' experience integrating and managing construction-related companies, he has a deep understanding of the diversity and complexity of Aecon's operating environment.  Mr. McKibbon is a Trustee of the Labourers International Union of North America, based in Washington D.C., and the Operating Engineers Local 793 Training Fund, based in Ontario.  He is a former President of the Canadian Pipeline Contractors Association and the Ontario Hot Mix Producers Association, and a former Board member of the Ontario Road Builders and Utility Contractors Associations.  Mr. McKibbon is certified by the Canadian Construction Association as a Gold Seal Project Manager.

John M. Beck started in the construction business in 1963 with his parents with a small pre-cast concrete firm based in Montreal, which has grown into the Aecon we know today.  He is a respected leader in Canada's construction industry.  Mr. Beck has served as Chairman of the Board of the Ontario Power Authority and as a director of the Canadian Council for Public Private Partnerships. The Canadian Council for Public Private Partnerships named Mr. Beck as its P3 Champion in 2013.
