AECOM appoints Managing Director for Ireland and UK

AECOM has announced that Patrick Flaherty will be joining the business as Managing Director for the United Kingdom and Ireland from 2nd December 2013. Working with the Chief Executive, Europe, Steve Morriss, Patrick will have full management responsibility for the UK and Ireland business and will be responsible for continuing to drive growth across the region.

Patrick joins AECOM from Fluor, having at various times been Managing Director for their UK business and led their Infrastructure (highway, rail transit, aviation, heavy civil and telecommunications) business. He led the company's entry into the public-private partnership (PPP) market in the UK, Europe, the USA and Canada. He was most recently responsible for global sales, marketing and business development for Fluor's Industrial and Infrastructure Group, employing over 4,000 people, generating revenue in excess of $12 billion and delivering new project awards of $9.5 billion in 2012.

He has also been responsible for the successful pursuit and delivery of a host of outstanding projects, including the restoration of transportation services underneath the 16-acre World Trade Center site in New York, construction of the signature span of the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, the largest public infrastructure project delivered in California's history, and the design-build-finance of High Occupancy Toll Lanes on the Capital Beltway Express in Virginia. In the UK, he led Fluor's pursuit and successful delivery of PPP projects with London Underground for the Connect Telecommunications Project and the UK Highways Agency National Roads Telecommunications Project.

Steve Morriss said:

"We have built a world-class team, which is performing really well. Patrick brings strong leadership and a huge depth of experience to the team, particularly in the infrastructure and industrial markets. His work on public-private partnership projects internationally will provide real value to our clients, many of whom are increasingly seeking opportunities in this arena at home and abroad."

Patrick went on to say:

"I chose AECOM because of the challenge and the opportunity. I have had a high regard for the company since my first interaction with them over 10 years ago in the US and this has grown as I learned more about the projects and clients AECOM has worked with. The areas the company has targeted for growth fits very well with my previous experience and provides great opportunity for continued success. I look forward to working with our clients and the AECOM team."
