Spanish-based Acciona is planning to sell of its last remaining highway project in Chile, the Route 160 concession project, a 90-km toll road in the Bio-Bio region.
The company has make this decission with a view to invest in the USA infrastructure market, which has a promising potential.
The highway project, which is valued at US$211 million, has just increased its monthly income by 65% thanks to the completion of the last section under construction, a milestone for the Spanish company, which can now get rid of the road with still more than remaining years of concession remaining.
International firms as DIF, Ardian, Abertis or Globalvía have already expressed interest in acquiring the road concession project.
The Route 160 project included duplicating the road surface, improvement of existing structures and construction of new ones, construction of new interchanges and junctions, controlled intersections and overpasses, as well as the improvement of sanitation and drainage systems.
The toll system is open, with three core toll areas located in Chivilingo, Curanilahue and Pilpilco. The operation and maintenance tasks will include the maintenance the wearing course, restorations, maintenance and inspection of structures, maintenance of signposting, maintenance of drainage systems and lighting. Route 160 will contribute to the productive development of the area and is the key route for the transportation of wood.
