$6 billion highways privatization contract tendered in Turkey

We've talked many times about PPP projects in Turkey. Recently the Ankara Etlik Health Campus was awarded to Astaldi and Turkeler, and last year a consortium led by Astaldi was awarded the construction of a highway linking Istanbul and Izmir ($6.5 billion). See Astaldi page
But there is no a single PPP project as big as the privatization of highways and motorways that the Turkish government is currently tendering. Government launched the privatization process last Tursday.
The list of roads that are to be privatized for a period of 25 years are the following:
  • Edirne-?stanbul-Ankara Motorway
  • Pozant?-Tarsus-Mersin Motorway
  • Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep Motorway
  • Toprakkale-?skenderun Motorway
  • ?zmir-Çe?me Motorway
  • ?zmir-Ayd?n Motorway
  • Gaziantep-Åžanl?urfa Motorway
  • ?zmir, Ankara and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge Peripheral Motorways
  • Bo?aziçi and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge

Donwload it here.Bidders have from 12 September until 18 November to submit statements of qualification. The deadline for bid submissions is December 15th at 16:00 hours. Bidders have to submit a bid bond of $200 million.The tender is estimated at $5-6 billion. All the big European highway operators are very likely to be interested: Abertis, Atlantia, OHL, Brisa, Egis, Vinci, etc. Local companies are also going to play a very important role.
