A total of eleven teams have submitted qualification documents for the expansion and improvement of routes 2 and 7 in Paraguay.
The teams are the following:
The project is expected to be the first infrastructure project to be carried out as a public-private partnership (PPP) under the country's recently-passed PPP law.
Route 2 links Asuncion and Coronel Oviedo while route 7 links Coronel Oviedo and Ciudad Este.
The project involves the capacity duplication of 142 km of the route 2, and the capacity duplication between Km 30 and Km 183 of the route 7.
The total project investment is estimated at US$400 million.
In early March we published that the project's request for qualification deadline was extended to 14 April 2015. Previously, in October last year we reported that the project was confirmed as a PPP along with other projects, including Silvio Pettirossi international airport modernization project and San Cristóbal-Naranjal road.
