Ørsted develops, constructs and operates offshore and onshore wind farms, solar farms and energy storage facilities as well as bioenergy plants and provides energy products to its customers. Headquartered in Denmark, Ørsted employs 6,500 people. In October 2018, Ørsted acquired Lincoln Clean Energy (LCE) and since December 2019 LCE is officially rebranded as Ørsted.
In 2017, Dong sold its North Sea oil and gas business and changed its name to Ørsted to reflect its near-complete transformation from fossil fuels to renewable energy. Ørsted now bills itself as “the greenest energy company in Europe.”
