Haji Abdullah Alireza's founder, Zainal Alireza, began trading from Jeddah in 1845 with the importation of foodstuffs, textiles and other merchandise from around the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent. Haji Abdullah Alireza was a prominent businessman and one of Saudi Arabia's pioneering entrepreneurs, recognized for establishing the Haji Abdullah Alireza & Co. Ltd. (HAACO) in the 19th century. His company became one of the Kingdom’s oldest trading firms, evolving into a diversified conglomerate involved in shipping, logistics, infrastructure, construction, and various other industries. HAACO played a key role in supporting the growth of the Saudi economy, especially in facilitating trade and commerce through its shipping and logistics operations. Over time, the Alireza family has maintained a significant presence in Saudi Arabian business, contributing to both private sector development and modernization in the region.
