Nicaragua prepares PPP law

The government of Nicaragua has introduced a new PPP bill before the National Assembly in order to attract private investment. Given the national interest of the new bill, the initiative could be approved within a couple of weeks.

Ivan Acosta, minister of finance, said that the new PPP bill aims to create the necessary conditions to attract more foreign and local investment, enabling multilateral institutions to finance the projects.

The initiative seeks to send a message of legal certainty in Nicaragua to international investors, at a time when USA is in the process of passing a law to block funds to Nicaragua.

The government of Nicaragua also stated that in the next days they would launch the tender process for the construction of a port in the Caribbean.
